Frankie Dettori has been banned from horse riding for six months after the jockey failed a drugs test.
The rider who has over 3000 wins tested positive in France for a banned substance in September.
The substance is unknown but according to reports was not an enhancing drug.
His worldwide suspension will run until 13th May and will see him miss some of the big races on the calendar, including the Guineas at Newmarket and the Dubai World Cup.
He will however return for the Epson Derby on June 1st and could well be in line to ride another big favourite there, after winning with Authorized in 2007.
The Italian rider has taken full responsibility for his actions.
It is a sad day for the man who in 1996 made history riding seven winners on one card.
