Just for men? Think again!
As the only all women’s 5star event in the world, the Supergirl Jam ended this season on a high, as 25 of the best female snowboarders, all competed to show their individual talent.
In conjunction with Community Cup, the Supergirl Sno Pro headed to the slopes of Breckenridge, Colorado for the Slopestyle event, the first event of the 2013 Supergirl Jam. With the snowboarding season almost over, the all-female event then heads to North America for the only ASP Star level female surf contest, giving the chance to show off the ever increasing talent in women’s surfing.
With perfect conditions, blue skies and a stomping set up, Breckenridge was ready to be ridden! And with seven of the top ten female snowboarders participating, the finale was bound to be a close call.
The Superfinal kicked off with each rider taking 3 runs, with the highest point taking Gold. XGames Champ Silje Norendal held her nerve, securing her place in the final as she pulled off a brilliantly technical run to take 3rd place with 87.75. Just missing out on first place was boarder Christy Prior who pulled out a frontside rodeo 720, securing 2nd place with a total of 90 points.
With Christy edging ever closer to that first place podium spot, Sarka Pancochova pulled off an insanely talented second run, killing it on the jumps and rails with a half cab 50 50 backside 360 off the barrel and a switch 540 to score the highest of the day, just stealing 1st place with 92 points.
After a brilliant day, Sarka summed up how she felt about her run: “I did the best run of my life today. It was a great season-ending competition and it was so fun to be out here with these girls on a course we designed and voted on. The conditions today were perfect: the weather, the course, the vibe. All of that contributed to what I was able to do today, and I can’t wait to compete in the Supergirl Snow Pro next year.”
